Lights, Camera, Action!
There's a lot that goes into creating a photoshoot. Luckily for you, I take care of all of those details from start to finish. But there are some ways you contribute to a successful session (other than being your fabulous self). These little tips and tricks will help guide you as you prepare for your session. I'm here for you as well, so don't hesitate to contact me if you need some help with preparing for your session.
5. Shopping
This is going to be so fun! Don't believe me? Haha! I saw you groan. I get it. Shopping can be annoying with the crowded stores, and warm fitting rooms. I get it. Luckily, you can shop online and avoid all of that. Most of my clients get ideas from Pinterest and find the lingerie they already have in their closet it perfect! Think about it, as long as your outfits fit well there's really no reason to go out and buy something new. I'm a 'use what you got' type of person. The caveat is if you haven't been fitted for a bra in the last 6 months, and/or your lingerie pulls, bunches, or doesn't hold the ladies in anymore...it's time to pick up a few new pieces. Keep in mind you always have the option of using the robes, teddies, and other accessories in my client closet as well.
4. Manicure & Pedicure
A nice coat of polish and some cuticle oil go a long way in helping establish the perfect look for your shoot. Not sure what color or style to go with? This is your shoot! Do what makes you comfortable. If you wear longer nails and intricate designs, do you! If you're more of a french manicure type of person, that's fine too. As long as your nails are clean and shiny, you'll be good to go. Don't overlook your feet! We use them so much and they're so often neglected. Make an appointment with your favorite nail tech and get everything buffed and shined up before your session. You deserve it, and you'll be so happy you did.
3. Eating Before the Shoot
I often get asked whether or not you should eat before the shoot. My answer is always yes. Who wants to be hangry while getting their hair done? You won't be able to relax and really enjoy the experience if you're focused on your next meal. So yes, eat. Have something packed with protein and complex carbohydrates so you stay full longer. I have snacks and light refreshments (and chocolates, of course) here at the studio as well.
2. Settle in for some Light Reading
In order for me to create a personal and special experience for you, I created a fun little questionnaire for you. This will help me understand your goals for the session, your style for the shoot, and I will be able to suggest more targeted lingerie options if you need to shop. About two weeks before your session you'll also receive an email from me that will grant you access to my Welcome Guide. This detailed magazine will walk you through the entire process from start to finish. It covers what to expect before, during and after the shoot, important details like what to wear, and so much more. So grab something to drink and turn on your favorite playlist. This is all about you, and I've taken care of everything- all you have to do is sit back and read.
1. Wax on, Wax off
So frequently my clients wonder if they should go get waxed for the session. I think that depends on how you want to see yourself, the goal for the shoot, and what you're wearing. The questionnaire you'll fill out will prompt you to think more in depth about this and those answers will help guide whether I recommend you see an esthetician. If you already regularly wax, perfect. Go ahead and get it done, just keep in mind what date your session is when you're scheduling the appointment. You don't want to get it done too soon before we shoot because your skin needs time to recover.
More Questions?
No worries! I always say it's better to be well-prepared. Check out my FAQs post to answer all sorts of questions. I've tried to think of everything, but if I haven't and there's something you need answered, let's chat.
