Ask me Anything! Part Two
Ask Me Anything is a three part series where I answer the most asked questions I receive.
These questions are from real women just like you who have wondered what this whole boudoir thing is about. If that sounds like you, then I definitely think this is a great series of posts to start with to get your feet wet. In this second installment we'll be covering posing, when you see your images, and why investing in yourself is always a great decision. And don't miss part one of this series, it's got a ton of useful tidbits as well.
Let's do this!
Question: I'm not seeing anyone right now, why should I do this?
Answer: Boudoir is for you! It's about celebrating yourself as you are right now. It's not about needing someone to give the images to- you're giving this present to yourself because you deserve it. Anyone else who benefits from your empowering session is just plain lucky.
Question: How long does the whole process last?
Answer: Hair and makeup lasts about 90 minutes. The actual shoot is two hours, give or take some time for changing, makeup touch-ups and breaks. The whole process is so exhilarating! For most it takes a little warming up to get out of our heads & into our bodies. Eventually the awkwardness subsides. Then the beautiful, brave & authentic you is revealed. We will begin by discovering your vision, making wardrobe choices & styling ideas. Then we make magic. I encourage you to set aside a little extra time to wind down back into your everyday life. You will be feeling amazing, I promise.
Question: When do I get to see my images?
Answer: All images are carefully edited for your private viewing & ordering appointment. We’ll meet up again for within two weeks of your shoot. Images will not be put online unless you grant written permission.
Question: Can I just get the digital images?
Answer: Of course! The corresponding digital files come with any of the collections you purchase. You may opt out of the products (album, poster, etc) for just the files, but the price will remain the same. Literally no one just wants digitals, trust me. When you see how great you look, you'll believe me.
Question: But, Shannon - I'm not comfortable spending money on myself! (Ok, so this one isn't a question, but it's something I hear a lot)
Challenge: Investing in a personal experience like this is not something you do everyday. But it is an experience that you will cherish for your lifetime. If you want the cheapest, this is not it. If you want a personal, transformative experience that will foster self love and leave you feeling sexy and confident, you found it.
Ask yourself if this is finally the time to explore and enjoy the person you are. If the answer is no, that's ok. But if it's yes and we move forward together, I can unreservedly promise you will adore the experience, the images, and the memories for the rest of your life. Oh, and we offer payment plans to make the Shannon O'Hara experience manageable for all budgets.
Question: How far in advance should I book my session?
Answer: I recommend that women have their shoot date scheduled for about 2 months prior to needing the finished product in-hand. Also, being a one-woman show, I tend to book up very quickly and relatively far in advance. For weekday availability, you should email me to schedule at least a month and a half in advance. Fridays tend to be the most popular time slots and book up the quickest. That said, DON'T WAIT to email me! It's never to early to get on my schedule.
Question: Do you photograph men? Will any men be present during my session?
Answer: Nope. I know what I'm good at, and posing men is just not my background or specialty. I'm always happy to offer referrals to other photographers, though! I will also make an exception for Jesse Williams or Trevor Noah. And no, during your time in the studio the only other people present are my all-woman team.
